  • After the dental implant surgery medication for the pain and antibiotics will be administer to prevent infection and manage the pain and swelling.
  • A Cold diet is recommended for the first day, and no food at all until the anaesthetic has worn off. Do not perform any strenuous exercise for the first couple of days and avoid touching the area with the tongue or fingers.
  • A little bleeding is normal for the first 24 hours if bleeding continues please contact the dental office.
  • Smoking and alcohol has to be avoided until the site has fully healed as this is likely to limit the healing process.
  • Continue to clean your teeth regularly in the normal way. Soft pressure to the implant surgery site, avoid flossing implant surgery site for the following days, to prevent stitches from opening. Clean around your implants in the first week after implant placement.
  • The stitches will need to be removed one week after the procedure
  • Do not use a water jet or an electric toothbrush around the operation site.
  • Continue good hygene and your implants the weeks and months after your dental implant procedure, you will need to take special attention to your new artificial tooth. Brush your teeth after every meal with a medium to soft bristles brush designed to reach behind and above replacement teeth, and be sure to floss at least once every day to keep the tooth clean at the gum line. It is also important that patients with a dental implant avoid food items that place to much stress on their artificial tooth, including extremely hard or sticky items.
  • Regular checkup appointments will usually be scheduled .  At these checkups, dental x-rays may be taken to examine the implant-bone integration and rule out any disease.
